A Bit About Me
Cliff Powell is a Development, Design, & Construction Executive with over twenty-five years of experience in managing over $1 Billion of work-in-place with individual projects in excess of $50 Million. Professionally, his areas of expertise encompass site development, construction management, architectural & interior design, project/program management, and budget management. His unwavering commitment to honesty, integrity, responsibility, and community is unparalleled and evidenced by his ability to consistently deliver quality projects ahead of schedule and under budget with a focus on quality and efficiency.
Cliff completed a construction apprenticeship, obtaining his general contractor’s license, progressing from construction management to a Director of Architecture and Engineering, and ultimately advancing to manage Development & Construction for AutoNation – America’s largest auto retailer, where he’s led several, diverse, multimillion-dollar projects from conception to completion. In this capacity, he has successfully managed the company's development and construction functions and support services and built an outstanding reputation.
Before joining the team at AutoNation, Mr. Powell served for ten years with one of the nation's most prominent automotive service and tire retail and wholesalers, TBC Corporation. He joined TBC as a Construction Manager and worked his way to become the Director of Architecture and Engineering. Cliff has been involved in executing corporate, franchise, and wholesale new-store development, planning, and design, site feasibility, conceptual design, and prototype development, among many other accomplishments. Mr. Powell's success in these fields can be credited to his vast industry knowledge, autodidacticism, determination, and grit.
Prior to his promotion to Director of Architecture and Engineering, Cliff worked directly with the Vice President of Construction as the Senior Construction Manager where he directed coast-to-coast construction projects for new construction, corporate and franchise store remodels, headquarters remodels, acquisitions, rollouts, and distribution centers. His most notable achievements in this role were designing and program managing the $16MM “Store of the Future” reimaging project for 756 Tire Kingdom, National Tire and Battery, and Merchants Tire locations which were completed in under four months and under budget.
Cliff's career in the construction industry began when, in 1996, he joined Mike Munz Construction, Inc. as an Apprentice, learning all aspects of the construction business. Leveraging that experience, he was promoted to Construction Manager in 2000, where he managed all aspects of construction for the company. His exceptional performance led to his promotion to Vice President of Company and Construction Operations, which he held until 2008.
What makes Mr. Powell unique is that before ever having a bachelor’s degree, his passion, determination, and inquisitive nature for the construction, design, and development industry promoted him to the Director of Architecture and Engineering for a 3-Billion-Dollar company (TBC) and then transitioned to manage over $100M of cap-ex projects annually for a Fortune 500 company (AutoNation).
Cliff is a licensed General Contractor with the State of Florida and earned his bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design, Denver. Furthermore, he is an expert in AutoCAD and SketchUp. Cliff's mission is to leave a positive impact by going beyond expectations with creativity, integrity, and determination.
